Vintage 1940s Rabbit and Pheasant Hunting Match Safe
Product Description
This World War II era brass match safe features two finely embossed hunting scenes. On the right, a pheasant hangs upside down by the feet. On the left, a rabbit is similarly displayed, both suspended as the spoils of a day’s hunt.
Framed by a double basket weave pattern, the composition is richly detailed and tactile. Made to house strike-anywhere matches, this piece would have rested near a hearth or wood stove, combining utility with storytelling.
A relic of sporting tradition and rural ritual, it reflects an era in which even the humblest household object was made with care and intention.
