NoMad

Easier to get a reservation and easier on the pocket book than its big brother, Eleven Madison Park, the fine dining restaurant of the NoMad Hotel has a steady stream of repeat diners.

No one does roasted chicken quite like the NoMad— a whole head and feet bird for two stuffed with a foie gras and truffle brioche and a crisp ochre colored skin is presented to the table and then scurried away to deconstruct. The breasts are sliced so that every piece has a morsel of the coveted skin, and the thighs are removed and fricasseed into a morel mushroom extravaganza of brown butter sabayon and chervil tops. All together, the experience has been dubbed “the best chicken in America.” After dinner, mosey the few feet over and enjoy what the locals call the ‘Elephant Bar’, a reference to the large carved bronzed tusked creatures protruding from the wood columns of the spirits shelves behind the small bar. For three years running, the NoMad has been listed as one of the top ten bars in the world. Book a room in the hotel and enjoy the privilege and civility of ordering one of the best cocktails in America from the comfort of a library chair reserved for guests of the hotel only.
