Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura
Engaging, eclectic, eye-catching, and energetic describe just about anything associated with the Gucci brand.
This forest green velvet galley style dining room attached to the Gucci Garden Museum and retail store in the Piazza della Signoria delivers exactly what you would expect from Gucci and then some. The vibrant room is a great host to some seriously spirited fabulous food with a twist: a stylish hot pink take out burger box arrives on a Gucci Herbarium porcelain plate. Inside, if you can eat it while it is hot rather than spend precious moments getting a fashion worthy Instagrammable shot, a juicy Cotechino (Italian sausage requiring slow cooking), Parmigiano Reggiano, salsa verde and balsamic mayonnaise couture burger slider is soul satisfying. While the chef of the restaurant, named the best in the world, has his name on this jewel box eatery (do try his signature dish, Tortellini with Parmigiano Reggiano cream), it is the Latin influence of chef, Karine Lopez, that gives the entire menu its Gucciesque flare. Her Purple Corn Tostada with marinated bonito and a hint of spice and citrus and the Tentacle Spectacle Octopus with black garlic and potatoes seem to be magically inspired by her Mexican roots and the neighboring Gucci Garden Museum’s collection of clashing colors and textures. Like all things Gucci since it hit the fashion scene in 1921, this restaurant gem delivers stylish food, fun, and shockingly good taste.
