1878 Wedgewood Majolica Bamboo and Basketweave Serving Dish
Product Description
Traditionally called a napkin plate, as it looks as if a real napkin is lying on it, this oval dish has a bamboo stalk & leaf design with a turquoise and black checkered “napkin” pattern.
The reverse has "WEDGWOOD", "SOG", and the letter "A" impressions. "2362O", the pattern number, is written under the glaze. "SOC" is the three letter code that represents the month of manufacture, the potter who made it, and the year the piece was made.Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by a twenty-nine year old man who today is remembered as the "Father of English Potters".
