Its substantial form and warm patina recall the bustle of estates reminiscent of Downton Abbey, where such a piece would have simmered roasts or gratins over open flame. Retired from its original purpose, it remains a storied vessel, now best suited for display or for storing loaves of bread, kitchen towels, or other sundries with old world charm.
