Product Description

Remarkable in both scale and construction, this extra-large French colander would have been a hardworking presence in a nineteenth-century kitchen. Deeply formed in copper, it is fitted with an unusual pair of copper handles at either side, substantial enough for lifting generous quantities of vegetables, fruit, or freshly washed greens.
More than 150 years have given the copper a beautifully varied surface and deep patina. Its generous proportions make it particularly striking hung among old copper cookware, filled with produce from the garden, or set on a kitchen table after a morning at the market.
