Product Description

These vintage wooden alpine skis and poles were made in Austria and Germany, when skiing was becoming part of the culture and romance of European mountain life. Long wooden skis, simple bindings, and traditional poles recall winters spent in the Alps, from the slopes of the Arlberg to the mountain towns of Bavaria.

Decades of use have given the wood a rich, timeworn patina, with markings and wear that speak to their original life on the snow. During this period, alpine skiing underwent remarkable change, particularly in Austria, where innovations in bindings and steel edges helped shape the modern sport.

Displayed together against a wall, beside a fireplace, or in a ski house entry, the skis and poles make distinctive winter decor with the character of an old European chalet.
