Cinquecento Roman Trattoria
A family favorite, the South End's Cinquecento is an edgy, energetic, and casually elegant Italian trattoria with killer outdoor seating in the summer—think bright red sofas and umbrellas, a bustling yet comfortable main dining room with leather wrap around seating, huge tastefully framed Italian aperitif advertising posters, and a striking, long black Italian marble topped serpentine shaped bar.
The menu is all consistent Italian comfort food goodness. The grilled octopus is a surprisingly tender appetizer, the fried Brussels sprouts are divine, and the Cavolo Nero & Pecorino Salad hits the spot with an enticing dressing made with truffle honey. Just right portions of hearty bolognese and rigatoni a la nonna (a fennel sausage, basil, cognac cream pasta) have graced the menu since this SoWa neighborhood eatery opened in 2012. A rarity in Boston, parking is complimentary while dining in the restaurant.
