Forged in Burgundy in the 1940s, this slender iron rack was made to keep a serious collection of wine safely tucked away in the cellar. Forty-four individual bottle rests rise within its tall, narrow frame, finished with an arched top that lends an architectural quality to the utilitarian design. A locking door with its original key kept the cellar’s best bottles under careful watch.
Its remarkably slim profile holds an impressive number of bottles while occupying little floor space, a clever piece of French wine country ingenuity. Decades of age have softened the iron with a timeworn surface particularly suited to a kitchen, dining room, or well-stocked bar.
