Produced at the Altwasser factory in Germany, where Carl Tielsch porcelain earned an international reputation for its exceptional quality and artistry, this plate is decorated in the richly detailed "Turkey" pattern, the plate features a deep green ground enlivened by flowing pink seaweed ribbons and richly modeled brown oyster shells arranged in graceful relief.
Delicate gilt detailing traces the rim while carefully highlighting each oyster compartment and the sinuous pink ribbons, adding warmth and refinement to the vivid palette. Designed for serving oysters at the height of formal dining in the nineteenth century, the plate reflects the period's fascination with naturalistic forms and elaborate presentation.
