Product Description

This 1860s brass-bound burl walnut writing slope  exemplifies campaign-era craftsmanship. The exterior is veneered in richly figured burl walnut and the interior opens to a compact gilt trimmed leather desk fitted with an ink well and dedicated storage for writing implements and papers. Thick brass straps and reinforced corners attest to maritime service and to use by a military officer on campaign.
