Product Description
A lock and key secure the lid of this substantial English silver plate biscuit barrel, lending an unexpected sense of ceremony to the simple act of keeping biscuits at hand. Its scale and presence recall the dining rooms and drawing rooms of turn-of-the-century London residences, where even everyday provisions were kept in objects of considerable craftsmanship.
The working lock is both practical and wonderfully particular, a reminder of an era when the biscuit barrel could command as much attention as the silver arranged around it.
