Product Description
Charlotte Terriou captures the graceful proportions and gentle presence of a woodland deer in this large-scale sculpture formed from clay and papier-mâché. Resting with its legs folded beneath its body, the deer holds its head upright beneath a full rack of antlers, its finely modeled face given a remarkably serene expression.
The scale gives the sculpture presence, while the handmade materials retain the subtle variations and texture of the artist’s hand. Long associated with nobility, grace, and harmony with the wild, the deer has appeared throughout centuries of European art, folklore, and decorative tradition.
