Vintage 1900 George Dreyfus Majolica Duck Pitcher
Made near the Chateau de Foutainebleau, this charming majolica duck-shaped pitcher with flapping wing handle is featured on the cover of the book Pichets en Barbotine by Maryse Bottero.
The Georges Dreyfus faïencerie opened in 1890 in Moret-sur-Loing, a historic town south of Paris, near the Chateau de Fontainebleau. Many of his pieces were originally intended as advertising containers for products such as liqueurs, tobacco, sardines, etc. The Moret-sur-Loing faiencerie was active until 1936.
